About Us

Welcome to the Ripon and District Amateur Radio Society (RADARS) website.

We are a friendly group of people who share a common interest in Amateur Radio and radio communication in general. If you have an interest in Amateur Radio and related technologies and wish to meet like minded people in the Ripon area then you are very welcome to join us.

The club was formed in 1986. We hold OFCOM licences for two callsigns, G4SJM and G1WCY and are members of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB). We are fortunate to be able to use the World War II communications bunker beneath the garden of Ripon Town Hall as our club house.

Our Radio Room is available for use by members who are licensed Amateur Radio operators.

If you are looking to become a licensed Radio Amateur we offer training and encouragement to help you succeed in the exams and enjoy your hobby.

We meet every Thursday evening in the bunker from 19:30 where we drink tea and eat biscuits while holding discussions, presentations and undertake projects on radio related topics.

I hope you find something of interest on the site. If you do, why not come along and meet us, it would be great to see you. Or you can follow us on our Facebook group here.
